Raised US$6.4m in funding

Nomono, a Norwegian startup, has raised $6.4 million in investment. Using technologies such as spatial audio, the firm is developing both hardware and software that "raises the standard on audio quality.

Jonas Rinde

CEO, CO-FOUNDER  NIMONO

"Our team has built some incredible tools that are already finding traction with our beta customers, and we’re excited to have the runway to continue our work in simplifying the podcast production process while raising the bar on sound quality for all types of audio storytelling.”

SPATIAL AUDIO

Nomono creates gear and software for professional podcasters, journalists, and audio storytellers in order to produce great-sounding immersive audio experiences. It looks into Spatial Audio technologies such as Dolby Atmos and Fraunhofer's MPEG-H.

APPLE, NETFLIX & SPATIAL SOUND

Given Apple and Netflix's recent statements about Spatial Audio and podcasting, Nomono's knowledge is important. Spatial Audio technologies are being implemented in headphones, smart speakers, soundbars, mobile devices and even cars

Spatial audio with dynamic head tracking brings theater-like sound that surrounds you from the movie or video you're watching, so that it seems as if the sound is coming from all around you. The sound field stays mapped to the device, and the voice stays with the actor or action on screen.

Podcast Potential

Nomono sees a lot of promise here as the podcast environment continues to expand tremendously, with a more than 280 percent rise in the development of new podcasts in 2020, from 300,000 in 2019 to over 900,000 in 2020
