HOW TO PODCAST:    Who is Your Podcast For?

By POD MIRROR

You have no chance of creating an audience until you know exactly who you're doing your show for and why you're doing it. Here are some ideas.

Step 2

Target Audience

Here is an example. If you are a personal trainer , then your target audience should be people interested in weight loss,  healthy eating, exercise, or body building.

Shared interest

If you're doing a hobby podcast  about, say, science fiction literature or post-apocalyptic fiction, your target audience should be simply people who share your interest.

Avatar

It's a good idea to create listener identities or avatars, and there are services that can assist. Consider, for example, sketching out exactly who you'd like to listen to your podcast.

Listener Persona

Remember to keep your audience's persona in mind when planning an episode. Keep your programme focused and on track, which will result in a more entertaining podcast.

Reason to listen

Give people a reason to listen. This means creating a podcast content that they will get something out of when they hit play.
