In the US, spoken word audio content is now being listened by an estimated 26 million more individuals than it was eight years ago. There are 131 million Americans aged 13 and over who listen to spoken word audio every day, which was 105 million daily listeners in 2014.

Mobile devices now account for 34% of all spoken word audio consumption, up from 9% in 2014. Younger listeners are more likely to use a mobile device to listen to content: 62% of spoken word audio consumed by people aged 13 to 24 is done so on a mobile device.
