GANDHINAGAR: Attention ⚠ all creative audio minds! In The Dark London and Transmission Roundhouse have joined forces 🤝 once again to present “What’s New?”, a platform celebrating the freshest voices in soundscapes.
In The Dark, an audio🗣 collective known for their captivating live listening 👂 events, is on a mission to revolutionize how we experience spoken-word and creative audio. Transmission Roundhouse, a youth-powered podcast platform housed within the iconic Roundhouse venue, champions the power of young voices and disruptive content.
This exciting collaboration offers a prime opportunity for both new producers and established veterans exploring novel styles to showcase their work.
⚠The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 17th, at 11:59 PM BST.
Register here👉Here’s what you need to know:
- What defines “newness”? Experience, exposure, and craft are all considered. Check the official call-out for specifics.
- Languages? All languages are welcome, but an English transcript is required for non-English submissions.
- Genre? Unleash your creativity! Sound art, narrative storytelling, fiction – anything goes, as long as it’s audio-based. However, pure interviews or “chatcasts” are less likely to be selected.
- Previously produced work? No problem! You can submit work from any year, as long as you feel your approach remains fresh. Published or unpublished works are both welcome.
- Submission limits? One work up to 15 minutes or three works under 5 minutes each.
- Excerpts? Permissible, but they must function as standalone pieces. Contextual information can be provided in the application if needed.
- Collaboration? Welcome! As long as the team is comprised of new producers (guidance from mentors is acceptable).
- Compensation? £50 will be awarded to producers whose work is featured. Importantly, In The Dark will not claim ownership of any intellectual property – this is purely an honorarium.
- Selection timeline? Expect a response by late July, with presentations happening in mid-August.
