HOW TO PODCAST:    Do I Need an Audience to Start a Podcast?

This is one of the most often asked questions, so let's get that out of the way before we continue on.

Step 3

Small Audience

Some folks have a small audience before they start a podcast. They may be the owner of a well-known brand or a well-established business, a singer, a former cricketer or baseball star, or an author.

Relevance

If you already have an audience for anything other than your podcast, now is a fantastic time to establish the groundwork for the show's popularity. Your podcast should be relevant for that audience.

Survey

You may choose to survey your target audience during the planning stages. You can ask them questions such, "What's your major pain point?" and "what are you now suffering with?" This might help you shape your contents in the future podcast episodes.

Discovery

Following the survey, you may choose to learn more about your podcast audience. This might range from demographics and geography to what other podcasts (if any) they listen to.

Avoid procastination

Just don't let it become a cause of procrastination or "design by committee" — sooner or later (ideally sooner), you should start making decisions and moving forward.

Give Them (Audience) a Reason to Listen
